Lila June Longhurst

Welcome Lila June Longhurst
(birth story to come sometime)

(yes there are repeat pictures from the last movie)

Maternity

I like to think that I am a good pregnant person.  I don't get sick much, I don't get too tired for too long and after that first 3 months my energy is back to normal.  This pregnancy was similar to Cedric's, it was pretty uneventful and easy.  That was until we got to 36 weeks when I measured 39 and then 37 and measured 40.  I was so uncomfortable.  They found I had developed gestational diabetes in the last couple of weeks.  I was so big and had so much extra fluid I could still feel baby girl in my throat.  She would not engage and I was so uncomfortable I thought I would go insane. Here are some pictures taken when I was still feeling alright.

Videos of Cedric

I know I am really bad at posting things so here are a bunch of little videos of Cedric.

Cedric enjoying the rain

Cedric Singing like Finoa from Shrek

Cedric got shaving equipment from the Gooch family for his birthday.  This is him trying it out.

July 4th

Our community here does its own Fourth of July Celebration.
It starts in the morning with a kids parade. Neal didn't feel like going so we stayed home (I guess he thought it was down town, he obviously did not listen while I explained it 5 time (sorry Neal it is true)) but it sounded fun as they went by our house.

Then they did a firework show in the evening and had a band that one of the boys in our neighborhood was in preformed. We were their first audiance.

Cedric did well with the fireworks as long as he was in our laps. He would laugh and say more pow pow pows. He then found a "flower" that spun and spent forever blowing air on it. The lady thought he was so cute and came and took pictures of him as well.

The bike and a bike ride

Neal went on another bike ride today so Cedric and I went to DI to see if they had anything good.

We found this bike for $3.00 and he loves it. He can't pedel it yet but he scoots like a pro.

This video was after he had it a couple weeks

After Neal got home we went to Ikea and got some toy storage YEAH!!!

The Zoo, The Fair. The bike ride

Today Neal had a bike race so Cedric and I went to the Folsom Zoo. It is a very small rescue zoo but the price is right. The animals are very close and it is small enough that we can get through it in an hour. There is also an amazing park right next to the zoo.

He loved the birds. I hate birds. I am trying to instill the fear of birds.

After Neal got home and Cedric took a nap we went to the county fair. We ate over priced food and Cedric rode on over priced rides.

I love the fair and I had the best funnel cake ever!

The Sierra Century
Neal did the 30 mile portion on his new bike he got for Father's Day
Way to go!

On the morning of May 30th 2010

Our mornings are often slow. Cedric loves to follow Neal around so we don't start to get ready for the day until Neal leaves for work.
Today I heard noise from Cedric's room and this is what I found.

And then I was found

This child is amazing. He can play by himself for a good half hour before he asks for someone to play with him. I give credit to Neal for this because Neal does such a good job getting on the floor and showing Cedric how to play.
Thank you Neal!!!

A baby craft

When we had Cedric a wonderful family gave us thier used carseat. It was so nice not having to purchase one. However, it was really a boy carseat so I got a pattern and made a cover to our little girl.

I am happy with how it turned out. The pattern was great because it had pictures for every step
The only thing that I didn't like is she has you keep a large portion not sewn together where the straps come through. (Where the pink and the white meet) I could still see a lot of the old cover so I used some velcroe and stuck the edges together.

My sister also wanted one so I sewed one for her
Instead of leaving that area open, this time I sewed it all together and then did large button holes on each side that the straps could come through. My sewing machine only does 2 & 1/4 inch button holes though and I needed 2& 1/2 so I had to play with it a bit and they are more like holes then button holes but they work. I hope I can find a foot attachement that allows me to do larger button holes.

This is for her little boy.

Botanical Gardens

We joined an attachment parenting play group when we first moved to Sacramento and it was been wonderful. The other mothers are great and so welcoming. We meet twice a week at each other's home, parks, or "field trip" locations.
This is at a very small botanical garden. It was perfect size so I could stand in one spot and watch him run everywhere. The kids had a wonderful time even though all the spring flowers were dead.

Getting Ready for Baby

We tried to get Cedric ready for the new baby by asking in questions.  We also tried to figure out a way to explain where the baby was and what would happen so we told him the baby was hiding but she would come out and say Peek a Boo in a little bit.  When we asked him what we should name the baby he answered "peek-a-boo".

Florida

Every year the company Neal works for has a meeting for all their employees and they get to bring families along. It is usually three days at a nice resort. This year we went to Florida and it was the best trip we have taken
Last year we went to Puerto Rico and we went a week early we did lots of things and that I why I think we were so stressed.
This year we planned nothing and did nothing and it was wonderful!

Cedric and I spent lots of time playing in the pool and play ground

They had good food (most of the time) for us. I am a picky sweets eater because if I am going to use calories I want it to be well worth it. Needless to say I did not eat these cupcakes. The frosting was pure shorting.
Cedric, however, has not learned was is good yet.

They end the weekend with a family night. This is Cedric enjoying the trampoline.

Unpacking takes weeks, not because I don't do it but because Cedric is sad every time I make a move to put the bags away.

He made himself a bed and got his books to read.

It was a great trip and Cedric is pretty well on the flights. I had the best chocolates of my life and I got a decent tan.
Best Vacation Ever!

Next year.... Texas (family night at a Dude Ranch!)
